Greetings to the Board of Directors, all employees, customers, stakeholders, regulators and members of the community.  This is Ibom power update for the first quarter of 2018.

The year 2017 was a remarkable year for Ibom Power Company Limited and Akwa Ibom State Power sector. We received accolades including being awarded Africa’s Most Innovative Quality Power Generation Service Provider at the African Quality Awards. Within the same period, Akwa Ibom State Power Sector recorded an unprecedented 18-hour steady power supply in parts of Uyo when the 33/11kV, 2 x 15MVA injection substation at 4-lane was commissioned and completed.

Ibom Power hosted the 25th Power stakeholders meeting where the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola recognized Akwa Ibom as the number one State in terms of power in Nigeria. His Excellence, Governor Udom Emmanuel also received the Meter Asset Provider (MAP) regulation from the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) at the opening ceremony of the stakeholders meeting.

Progress is being made with the ongoing implementation of the Power Sector Recovery Programme (PSRP) which are sets of policies, actions and programmes meant to solve the power sector problems. PSRP’s implementation is laudable and more needs to be done to eliminate accumulated deficits in the sector.

The Hot Gas Path Inspection (HGPI) of our 115Megawatts (MW) Unit 3 was successfully completed and our plant output optimized. We are now contributing an average of 102MW daily to the national grid. Preparations for the commencement of 500MW Ibom Power Phase 2 are on top gear as significant progress is being made with investors who have indicated interest in the project.

Part of our core objectives as a company is employee development and capacity building. In demonstration of our commitment, some of our staff embarked on trainings and conferences in 2017. More training will hold this year.

We appreciate NERC for recognizing Ibom power as one of the cleanest power generation companies in Nigeria with 100% safety compliance. Such recognitions only assure us that we are gradually actualizing our vision to become and remain the best power generation company in Nigeria.

Cheers!
