Afam III 240MW Fast power plant and Alaoji 572MW plant are almost set to start contributing electricity to the national grid, Punch reports.
The Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) manages the Alaoji power plants while the Afam Power Plc operates the Afam III Fast Power plant.
Speaking on the Afam III Fast power plant, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Afam Power Plc, Olumide Obademi said the Afam fast power is a product of an agreement between the Federal Government and General Electric (GE) in line with FG’s incremental power programme.
According to the MD, Afam III Fast Power which is made up of eight turbines with a capacity of 30MW each for a cumulative of 240MW will be ready in a couple of months beginning from April.
In a related development, the Executive Director, Engineering and Technical Services, Niger Delta Power Holding Company NDPHC, Ifeoluwa Oyedele has stated that the 572MW Alaoji power plant will commence operations in the next two months.
He said all impediments hampering the completion of the power plant had been removed and Alaoji plant along with others under the National Integrated Power Projects (NIPP) will be supplying the national grid soon.
