Ikot Abasi, the host Local Government Area of Ibom power plant has been without power supply for about 3 months now. The community was disconnected by Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC) for non-payment of its accumulated electricity bills.
Ibom power had initially connected the entire Ikot Abasi community to the power grid through PHEDC but disagreement between the community and PHEDC due to bill settlement stalled the project. Engr.
Etukudo who is the Special Assistant (SA) on Power to the Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel said the Governor had directed that power supply should be restored to Ikot Abasi. The MD assured Ikot Abasi people that whichever of the options that is adopted, power will be available to Ikot Abasi this year.
