The 25th monthly Power Sector Stakeholders meeting consisting of operators in the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) will be hosted by Ibom Power Company Limited on the 12th of March 2018 in Uyo.
This was disclosed on behalf of the Secretariat by Funlola Osinupebi, Head of Performance Monitoring & Communications in the Office of the Vice President.
All hands are on deck as the Management and Staff of Ibom power prepare to host industry operators in collaboration with the office of the Minister of Power Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola.
The meeting scheduled to hold every second Monday of the month was initiated by Mr Fashola as an avenue for the leadership of the power industry to lay bare all the constraints being experienced in the sector in order to proffer solutions to them one after the other.
Fashola had said at the maiden edition that “…the idea behind this meeting is to listen to as much of the operators in the power industry as possible to understand what the unique problems are, to understand what the general problems also are and to develop solutions to them as in line with the Federal Ministry of Power and Housing or as in line with the agencies of government for possible comprehension and the application of relevant solutions”.
He explained that the meeting will be rotated among the various generation companies (GENCOs); distribution companies (DISCOs), Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and other stakeholders across the country. He said companies can jointly pull up resources required to hold the meetings in order to minimise the cost of hosting the meetings.
This is the first time Ibom power will host the Power Sector Stakeholders since inception. Ibom power plant is one of the 22 gas fired power plants in Nigeria and has three installed units – Units 1 & 2 38mw each and unit 115mw for a total installed capacity of 191mw with a license to expand to 685mw.
